Walt Disney World is making a major transportation policy permanent to stop off-property day guests from using Disney Springs as a free park-and-ride hub. Starting June 28, 2026, strict Disney Springs bus restrictions will officially take effect at all bus loops and watercraft docks. Disney has already begun installing physical signage throughout the property to warn visitors about the upcoming transit crackdown.
The security screening process will require a physical scan before entering the boarding queues. Cast Members armed with handheld tablets will guard the entry archways to check guest credentials. To pass through the security checkpoints, visitors must scan a MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass, or physical room key to verify their eligibility.
New Verification Requirements
Fortunately, registered on-property hotel guests will remain completely unaffected by the new restrictions. Guests staying at Disney resorts, the Swan and Dolphin, or Shades of Green retain full resort-hopping privileges. Once a valid hotel reservation scans successfully at the main gate, those guests can board any resort-bound bus or Sassagoula River Cruise ferryboat.
The strict rules primarily target off-property day guests and Annual Passholders who do not have an active hotel stay. To board a resort bus or boat, non-resort guests must hold a valid dining or Enchanting Extras reservation at that specific hotel. Furthermore, the scanning system will only permit them to board transportation within a strict two-hour window of their reservation time.
Legal Workarounds for Day Guests
Day guests looking to resort hop without a dining reservation can still do so by avoiding Disney Springs entirely. Because theme park transportation hubs remain completely unrestricted, visitors can park at a theme park lot instead. From there, anyone can freely board any resort-bound bus, boat, Monorail, or Skyliner route without showing proof of a reservation.
