Disney World’s attempt to offer flexible dining access hit a speed bump this week. In an attempt to reduce the reliance on hard-to-get advance reservations, Disney added a new “Join Walk-Up List” digital button in the My Disney Experience app for EPCOT’s GEO-82 and Magic Kingdom’s The Beak and Barrel. After the feature experienced widespread technical glitches, Disney removed the button, leaving guests confused about how to access these two highly sought-after locations.
The Appearance of the Digital Waitlist
On July 9, 2026, the “Join Walk-Up List” feature unexpectedly went live within the app for these two lounges. Many fans initially viewed this as a major upgrade to the current dining system. Since both venues have required strict reservations since they opened in 2025, guests welcomed the prospect of same-day, virtual-queue access. However, the buttons failed to function, often returning error messages for guests attempting to use them.
The Abrupt Rollback
The update proved short-lived. By July 13, 2026, Disney removed the walk-up buttons from both location pages in the app. Disney officially confirmed that they paused the feature. They have not provided a specific reason for the removal, nor have they given a timeline for a potential return. This leaves the future of spontaneous, same-day access to these popular lounges uncertain.
Why Access Remains a Challenge
Both GEO-82 and The Beak and Barrel remain exceptionally difficult to book. Currently, guests must secure an Advance Dining Reservation (ADR) exactly 60 days out at 6:00 a.m. EST. Industry analysts speculate that the sheer volume of demand combined with limited venue capacity made managing a digital walk-up list logistically impossible. High guest interest likely overwhelmed the system during this initial, buggy test.
What Guests Should Do Now
For the time being, do not plan your park day around the possibility of finding a walk-up spot. The only guaranteed way to secure a seat at these locations remains the standard 60-day advance booking window. If you hope to visit, continue checking the app frequently, as reservation cancellations do occur. As with many things at Disney, digital features and access policies remain subject to change without notice.
