Disneyland dealt with another major ride incident yesterday afternoon when reckless guests triggered a safety shutdown. This marks the second dangerous incident on the attraction in just over a week. The unexpected disruption occurred during normal operating hours. A party of riders deliberately tried to climb out of their moving log flume vehicle, forcing cast members to halt operations immediately.
The riders chose a highly dangerous location to exit the historic water ride. The guests stood up right at the bottom of the final lift hill. This happened just as the boat prepared to ascend the mountain toward the drop. Ride sensors and watchful employees instantly slammed on the emergency brakes. Operators repeatedly broadcasted safety instructions over the loudspeaker.
The sudden stop trapped dozens of families inside their logs along the outdoor channel. Other parkgoers sat in the hot sun for over 30 minutes. Staff worked quickly to resolve the active hazard. A nearby parkgoer captured the tense situation and the empty ride vehicle on video, as you can see below:
Security Response and Bold Demands
Disneyland Security guards rushed to the scene to track down the offending party. Employees successfully resolved the active safety hazard shortly after the incident. Shockingly, eyewitnesses saw the exact same family later at a Guest Relations umbrella. The group actively demanded complimentary Lightning Lane passes to compensate for the delay.
This marks the second major guest safety incident on the California version this week. Unlike the Florida version, the Disneyland log flumes utilize traditional single-file seating. The ride vehicles do not feature lap bars or individual physical restraints. This design makes it incredibly easy for misbehaving guests to stand up.
Fortunately, no one suffered injuries during the lengthy midday disruption. Maintenance teams conducted a thorough safety sweep of the lift hill. Workers then cleared the attraction to welcome back guests. The ride successfully reopened later in the afternoon. It is running its normal daily schedule today.
