Ozzy Osbourne, legendary rock star, Black Sabbath frontman and reality TV personality, has died at 76.
Osbourne, often known as the “Prince of Darkness,” passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. His family surrounded him at the time. While they did not immediately reveal a specific cause of death, Osbourne battled serious health issues in recent years. He publicly disclosed Parkinson’s disease in 2020. Complications from previous injuries and surgeries also affected him.
His passing comes just weeks after a final, emotional performance. This farewell show with Black Sabbath took place in Birmingham, England, on July 5. His family released a statement. They expressed profound sadness and requested privacy during this difficult time as you can see below:

While most people knew him for his electrifying rock career and wild public persona, Ozzy Osbourne also had surprising and lesser-known ties to Disney.
Ozzy’s Voice Acting Roles
Beyond the stage, Ozzy lent his distinctive voice to several Disney-related animated projects. In 2011, he voiced Fawn in the Touchstone Pictures film Gnomeo & Juliet. Walt Disney Studios Movies distributed the animated film.
That same year, he guest-starred as the Earth Troll in an episode of the Disney Channel series Fish Hooks. He also ventured into Disney animation as the voice of the Duke of Drear in The 7D, a Disney XD series. He even shared the screen with his daughter, Kelly Osbourne, in this role.
Other Disney Connections
Ozzy’s Disney connection extended beyond voice work. His wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, once revealed that Disney offered Ozzy an audition for a role in the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. He did not take the part. Yet, it’s an intriguing “what if,” given the series often features rock icons like Keith Richards.
His music also found its way into films under the Disney umbrella. His iconic song “Iron Man” featured in the first Iron Man movie. Marvel, now a Disney-owned studio, produced the film. “Crazy Train” even appeared in the teaser trailer for Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2.
A Unique Legacy
Ozzy Osbourne leaves a legacy of groundbreaking music and unapologetic individuality. His unexpected contributions and near-misses within the Disney universe add a fascinating, whimsical footnote to the heavy metal titan’s life. He touched millions, from headbangers to Disney fans.
