ESPN star Pat McAfee is joining the world of Disney animation. He’s part of the voice cast for “Hexed,” Walt Disney Animation Studios’ next big movie. Disney revealed the news today along with the final trailer for the film. “Hexed” hits theaters Wednesday, November 25, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.
Disney hasn’t said which character McAfee voices, so fans will have to wait to find out. The former NFL punter is one of the biggest names in sports media. His show airs every weekday on ESPN, which is owned by Disney. That makes this role a fun crossover for the Disney family.
The Final “Hexed” Trailer
The new trailer gives fans their best look yet at the magical world of Hexe. It shows Billie’s mom trying to hide her daughter’s powers, which first appeared when she was a baby. Fans also get more of Queen Celeste and a three-eyed cat named Beef Roger. There’s even a nod to Disney history, with Billie dancing alongside the broomsticks from “Fantasia.” Disney is also showing a preview during “Monday Night Football” tonight. Disney released the full trailer today, as you can see below:
What “Hexed” Is About
“Hexed” follows Billie Doe, an impulsive teenage girl who never quite fits in. She discovers she has secret magical powers that pull her out of the suburbs. Billie ends up in Hexe, a hidden world of witches where magic runs free. Her cautious mom, Alice, gets pulled in too, and the two uncover long-held family secrets. Director Fawn Veerasunthorn says Billie has “felt miscast in her own life.” “Hexed” is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 65th animated movie, and it’s an original story, not a sequel.
A Star-Studded Voice Cast
Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie, and Rashida Jones plays her mom, Alice. Jodie Foster takes on the villain, Queen Celeste. “I have never voiced a character in a Disney animated film until now,” Foster said. Walton Goggins voices Beef Roger Crummchuk, the three-eyed cat who can take off his head and spin it. Henry Winkler plays Nigel, a bird who holds powerful secrets about Hexe.
McAfee isn’t the only surprise name in the cast. WWE superstar Drew McIntyre also lends his voice, giving the movie a fun wrestling connection with McAfee. Bill Farmer, the longtime voice of Goofy, is part of the cast too. So is Alan Tudyk, who has voiced characters in nearly every recent Disney animated movie. Randall Park, Rachel Dratch, Kathy Najimy, Wayne Knight and Yvette Nicole Brown round out the long list of stars.
