Disney is once again rolling out the red carpet for one of its biggest stars. The studio officially announced that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is joining the voice cast of the highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2. Johnson previously delighted fans in the Moana franchise. He will add his unique charisma to the mammal metropolis when the film hits theaters on November 26, 2025. This massive casting reveal positions the follow-up to the billion-dollar hit for another major success.
The Rock’s New Role: Who Is Zeke?
Johnson will play a new character named Zeke, an accident-prone dik-dik. This small character is destined for a big moment, even for those unfamiliar with the tiny antelope. Zeke’s introduction comes from chaos, as he meets a “musical mishap” during a high-speed pursuit involving Officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Sources currently believe his role is a cameo, but it certainly guarantees a hilarious, action-packed moment.

Dwayne Johnson isn’t the only major name making a debut in the animal world. Disney is filling its ranks with stars from across its animation universe. The cast now includes Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan as the central mysterious reptile Gary De’Snake. They also added Quinta Brunson as the police partner therapist Dr. Fuzzby. Beloved voices from other franchises are joining too, including Frozen‘s Josh Gad and Moana‘s Auliʻi Cravalho. The sheer volume of new talent ensures Zootopia 2 will feel like a massive event.

Their new case involves a twisting trail that leads them to explore the city’s unseen side. They will also confront the prejudice surrounding the mysterious reptile population in the Marsh Market.
The 2016 original grossed over $1 billion and won an Oscar, which established a high bar for this sequel. Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy) and Jason Bateman (Nick) return alongside a fresh cast.
