D’Amaro succeeds Bob Iger, who has now moved into a Senior Advisor role. This shift marks one of the most significant changes in Disney’s corporate history.

In his first official move, D’Amaro sent a company-wide memo to all Cast Members this morning. He shared a personal childhood memory of riding Peter Pan’s Flight with his family. He described seeing his father’s face light up with pure joy during the attraction. D’Amaro emphasized that capturing that specific feeling of magic must always remain Disney’s primary focus.
Leadership Partner for Creative
This new era also introduces a powerful leadership partnership at the top. D’Amaro will work closely with Dana Walden, who was promoted to President and Chief Creative Officer today. Walden will oversee the company’s massive portfolio of movie and television studios. This dynamic duo is expected to unite the company’s creative output with its operational goals.
Inheriting the $60 Billion Plan
The new CEO takes charge during a period of massive capital investment. Disney is currently executing a $60 billion ten-year plan to “turbocharge” its global growth. This includes major theme park expansions and doubling the size of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. D’Amaro is now personally responsible for ensuring these high-stakes projects deliver the “magic” fans expect.
Bob Iger’s Final Act
While D’Amaro is now the CEO, Bob Iger is staying on to assist with the handoff. Iger will serve as a Senior Advisor until December 31, 2026.
