Gerard achieved international fame as Captain William “Buck” Rogers. He starred in the NBC series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century from 1979 to 1981. Gil Gerard’s Significant Disney Connection

While many know him for space travel, Gerard also had deep ties to Disney. He starred in the 1986 TV movie The Last Electric Knight. This project aired as part of The Disney Sunday Movie on ABC. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner even introduced the film personally. This role established Gerard as a key face for Disney’s television expansion during the 1980s.

The film’s success led to the Disney-produced spin-off series, Sidekicks. Gerard starred as Sergeant Jake Rizzo, a detective caring for a young martial arts expert.
