Orlando, Fla. — Deputies are searching for a scuba-clad thief who pulled off a late-night robbery at Paddlefish restaurant in Disney Springs before swimming away with thousands in cash.
How the Heist Happened
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says the crime occurred just after midnight on September 15, 2025, about an hour after the restaurant closed. Paddlefish, built to resemble a riverboat, became the backdrop for a rare Disney Springs robbery.
Investigators report the suspect swam to the building in scuba gear, changed clothes, and entered the manager’s office. Employees counting money were forced into a corner as the suspect ordered them to close their eyes. Documents suggest he may have tied them up, though details remain heavily redacted.
The Escape by Lagoon
After grabbing between $10,000 and $20,000, the suspect spray-painted a security camera and returned to the water in full scuba gear. He disappeared into the lagoon before authorities could arrive.
Witnesses described him as slim, about 5-foot-10, wearing tight clothing and a blue beanie. No weapon was shown, and no one was hurt.
Disney Springs on Alert
Disney Springs is known for heavy security, making this method of escape highly unusual. Investigators have not explained how the suspect knew when the office cash count would take place.
Paddlefish reopened as normal later that day. Management has not commented publicly. Deputies continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to come forward.
