The worlds of pop royalty and Pixar animation are officially colliding. Taylor Swift has written and recorded a brand-new original song for the upcoming Toy Story 5 motion picture soundtrack. Titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the highly anticipated track will hit all digital and streaming platforms on Friday, June 5, 2026. The full movie soundtrack will debut shortly after when the film arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.

A Return to Country Roots Inspired by Jessie

Swift teamed up with her long-time creative collaborator Jack Antonoff to produce the new track. Promoted as a true return to her country roots, the song blends her early musical style with her modern alternative songwriting. Swift wrote the emotional core of the song entirely about Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl and her ongoing character arc. An early, unfinished screening of the film instantly inspired Swift to write the piece. Director Andrew Stanton heavily praised the track, stating that the authentic song instantly felt like it always belonged in the franchise.

The Brilliant Viral Marketing Campaign

The official announcement follows a wave of clever misdirection and massive marketing stunts. Just days ago, director Andrew Stanton playfully downplayed rumors of a Swift collaboration during a press event at Pixar headquarters. Over the weekend, mysterious digital billboards popped up in major global cities like New York, Los Angeles, and London. These displays featured the letters “TS” stylized in the iconic Toy Story logo font. Swift’s official website also featured a ticking countdown timer against a backdrop of Andy’s classic cloud wallpaper.

Exclusive Collector CD Variants Drop Online

Physical media collectors can already celebrate the historic crossover event. Pre-sales for physical CD copies of the single launched on Swift’s official webstore immediately following the announcement. Swift is pressing the single onto three unique collector’s edition CD variants. Each individual edition features specialized artwork and alternate versions of the track. Beyond the original theatrical version, fans can listen to exclusive acoustic and piano renditions with unique vocal cuts.
