Ryan Reynolds has sent fans into a frenzy with a cryptic Instagram post hinting at a potential appearance in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The actor is known for his witty humor and social media antics as the Merc with a Mouth. He posted a simple image to his Instagram account. The photo featured the iconic white Avengers logo with a red anarchy-style ‘A’ spray-painted over it.
Reynolds left the post without a caption. This ignited a firestorm of speculation across the internet. Fans will recognize the anarchy symbol from the villain Cassandra Nova’s base in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, as you can see below:
The post’s timing is particularly noteworthy. Production for Avengers: Doomsday is currently underway. Rumors have circulated that a second wave of casting announcements may be imminent. This has led many to believe that Reynolds’ post is a direct tease of a surprise reveal that Deadpool will be joining the massive ensemble cast. The same week, other fan theories also popped up online. Many point to the inclusion of other Fox-era mutants in the film’s first casting announcement. This is a strong indicator that Deadpool’s introduction into the MCU is likely.
