The wait is finally over for fans of the Kingdom of Corona. Walt Disney Studios recently confirmed the lead cast for the highly anticipated live-action reimagining of Tangled. This news ends years of online speculation and fan-casting, confirming that the studio is ready to let down Rapunzel’s hair once again.
The New Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Stepping into the iconic role of Rapunzel is 21-year-old Australian actress Teagan Croft. Best known to audiences as Raven in the DC series Titans, Croft reportedly won the role after a series of intensive screen tests held in London. Sources indicate she beat out several high-profile finalists, including Sarah Catherine Hook and Olivia-Mai Barrett.
Joining her as the charmingly roguish Flynn Rider (Eugene Fitzherbert) is Disney veteran Milo Manheim. The 24-year-old actor is a household name for fans of the Zombies franchise. His background in musical theater and his recent runner-up finish on Dancing with the Stars make him a natural fit for the physical and vocal demands of the role.
A Musical Spectacle Behind the Scenes
Disney has tapped Michael Gracey to direct the film. Experts expect Gracey, the visionary behind The Greatest Showman, to lean heavily into the musical roots of the story. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder) wrote the screenplay, while Kristin Burr (Cruella) will produce the project.
While the leads are locked in, the studio still needs to fill the role of the villainous Mother Gothel. Despite early rumors linking Scarlett Johansson to the part, industry reports confirm she passed on the project due to scheduling conflicts. Disney expects production to begin mid-year in the United Kingdom and confirms a theatrical-only release.
