Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch has become one of the biggest film events of 2025, dominating both streaming and theaters worldwide.

In its first five days, Lilo & Stitch reached 14.3 million views on Disney+. That milestone makes it the second-biggest live-action Disney+ debut, right behind The Little Mermaid. Fans didn’t stop there—overall streaming hours for the Lilo & Stitch franchise jumped to more than 640 million as viewers revisited the animated films.
Billion-Dollar Box Office
The movie also soared in theaters, earning more than $1 billion globally. It marked the first Disney live-action remake to cross that milestone since The Lion King. Opening weekend set records, with $183 million domestic and $341 million worldwide over Memorial Day. By the end of its run, the film grossed $424 million in the U.S. and $611 million internationally.
Cultural Buzz and Fan Reactions
The film’s trailer was viewed 158 million times in its first 24 hours, second only to The Lion King among Disney remakes. Audiences gave it a 93% Rotten Tomatoes audience score and an “A” CinemaScore. While the updated ending drew criticism from some fans for shifting away from the original “ohana” message, the controversy only boosted conversation and viewership.
