Humphrey the Bear

Humphrey the Bear has finally stepped out of the woods and into the spotlight. Yesterday, the classic Disney character made his official Disney Parks debut at the Disneyland Resort. While Humphrey has been a cult favorite in animation for decades, this marks the first time guests can meet him in person. The snack-loving grizzly is currently appearing as part of a major anniversary celebration in California.

Where To Find Humphrey The Bear

Guests can find Humphrey at Storytellers Cafe, located inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. He has joined the lineup for Donald’s Tales of Adventure dinner buffet. Interestingly, Humphrey appears to have replaced Goofy in the character rotation for this specific meal. He meets diners alongside Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, and Clarabelle Cow, all of whom are wearing special explorer-themed outfits.

Celebrating 25 Years Of California Adventure

This surprise debut is part of the Disney California Adventure 25th Anniversary festivities. The resort kicked off the celebration yesterday to honor both the park and the Grand Californian Hotel, which opened in 2001. Humphrey is a perfect fit for the rustic, Craftsman-style hotel. His arrival adds a nostalgic touch for fans who remember his 1950s shorts and his long-standing tribute at Humphrey’s Service & Supplies in Grizzly Peak.

Reservations And Anniversary Highlights

If you want to meet the mischievous bear, advanced dining reservations are highly recommended. You can book your spot at Storytellers Cafe up to 60 days in advance via the Disneyland app. The anniversary celebration also features other limited-time offerings. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are meeting guests on Buena Vista Street in vibrant new outfits. Additionally, the fan-favorite Soarin’ Over California has returned to the park for a limited run through July 1.

A Rare Treat For Disney Animation Fans

The addition of Humphrey the Bear shows Disney’s commitment to bringing rare characters into the parks for milestone events. Humphrey’s physical comedy and “snack-obsessed” personality have already made him a hit during the first few nights of dinner service. Whether he is dancing through the restaurant or looking for a treat, he brings a unique energy to the meal. Make sure to have your camera ready, as rare character appearances like this are often for a limited time.
