The Hulu brand will soon reach worldwide audiences. Starting October 8, 2025, Hulu becomes the global General Entertainment brand on Disney+. This change replaces the “Star” brand in international markets. This is a key step in preparation for a fully integrated unified app experience next year. Users will begin to see Hulu Integrated Globally across the Disney+ app starting this month, part of an ongoing slate of product updates.
Major Changes Hitting the User Experience
The new design focuses on a simpler and more intuitive user experience (UX). Over the coming weeks, a new navigation bar will appear at the top of the homepage. The new “For You” tab becomes the home base for recommended viewing. An updated algorithm powers this tab, learning user preferences over time. There are also dedicated tabs for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN. This makes exploring each content catalog individually much easier for subscribers.
Personalized Recommendations and Live Content
Disney hard at work to evolve and advance its personalized video algorithm. This engine will improve over time. It will power the recommendations and personalization across all platform touchpoints, especially in the all-new “For You” tab. Users will also find a prominent “Live” hub in the main vertical navigation. This takes subscribers straight into the latest live news, sports, and events. New badging tags like “Season Finale” and “New Series” will show timely and unique content.
Preparing for the Unified App
The Hulu Integrated Globally rebrand signals a major commitment to merging Disney’s streaming services. This effort prepares for the single unified app experience planned for next year. While many of these design updates apply across living room screens, Disney is also planning mobile enhancements. Widgets are launching on iOS, creating another direct entry point to programming. Additional updates will roll out in the lead-up to the launch of the seamless, unified app experience.
