Former Disney star Matt Prokop is back behind bars in his hometown of Victoria, Texas. Local police apprehended the actor on Christmas Eve following a reported bond violation. However, new felony charges suggest his legal troubles are far more serious than initially reported. Prokop currently remains in custody as investigators dig deeper into his recent activity.
Authorities recently added a second-degree felony charge to Prokop’s growing list of crimes. On December 31, 2025, investigators signed a warrant for the possession or promotion of child pornography. This serious allegation follows an extensive search of the actor’s digital records. Prokop now faces a massive legal battle in Victoria County. Bail for his current charges stands at $117,500.
Felony Charges and Bond Violations
The legal trouble began when officers responded to a residence on Milam Street. Prokop reportedly violated his bond conditions from a separate 2024 assault case. During the arrest, the actor allegedly tried to flee and resisted the officers. He now faces four additional misdemeanors for evading and obstructing the police during that incident.
This arrest marks the second major incident for Prokop in less than two years. In May 2024, police arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly threatened a woman with a red hammer and pinned her down. Witnesses claimed he vowed to smash the victim’s skull in during the violent confrontation.
A History of Abuse Allegations
The actor’s history of abuse allegations dates back to his time in Hollywood. Sarah Hyland obtained a permanent restraining order against him in 2014. The Modern Family star claimed Prokop choked her and made several death threats. Those disturbing revelations effectively ended his professional acting career over a decade ago. Co-star Julie Bowen reportedly helped Hyland escape the relationship safely.
Prokop originally gained fame for roles in High School Musical 3 and Geek Charming. However, his legal issues have completely overshadowed his former success. He has not appeared in a major film or television project since 2014. He currently sits in jail as the local judicial process unfolds.
