Disneyland Puts All New Annual Passes on Hold

Disneyland has officially paused the sale of all new Magic Key annual passes. The official Disneyland website has been updated to reflect the change, confirming that all four tiers of the pass program—Inspire, Believe, Enchant, and Imagine—are currently unavailable for new purchases.

This is a recurring strategy for the resort. While no official reason was given, industry experts believe the move is a way to manage park attendance. High demand and the need to control crowds often trigger these temporary pauses in sales. The goal is to preserve a positive guest experience for all visitors.

The pause in sales does not affect existing passholders. Those who currently hold a Magic Key pass can still renew their passes, which will allow them to continue enjoying the parks without interruption. Disney has used this method in the past to manage the influx of new passholders while allowing loyal fans to retain their benefits.

The move marks another chapter in Disneyland’s efforts to balance local guest access with overall park capacity. When Magic Key passes last went on sale, they sold out quickly due to immense demand, a factor that likely played into this recent decision.

This period of unavailability is not a permanent change. Passes are expected to return for sale at a later date. However, Disney has not announced a specific timeline for when new passes will once again become an option. Potential new passholders must wait for another sales window to open.
