Nothing captures the festive spirit quite like the sweet aroma of baking. Disney chefs are decking the halls with spectacular, life-sized creations. These structures look completely good enough to eat. Culinary teams transformed roofs, doorways, and windows into incredible edible art.
Storybook Houses and Festive Carousels
Here is a look at the storybook houses, spinning carousels, and sweet confections. Disney bakers crafted these displays with love this year. Most locations will also offer delicious holiday treats for sale to guests.
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – This year marks the 20th anniversary of this resort hotel’s gingerbread house. An Austrian recipe inspires the ornaments, cookies, and a 14-foot house. Located in the lobby, it houses The Bake Shop. This is the perfect place to buy holiday treats. Decorating demonstrations occur daily from Dec. 1-25.
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Culinary artists re-created Cinderella Castle with an “it’s a small world” backdrop. The display depicts Cinderella and Prince Charming greeting guests. Bakers crafted the 18-foot display from thousands of gingerbread blocks. A life-sized spinning carousel highlights the display.
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort – This scrumptious classic carousel features Donald Duck- and Daisy Duck-themed horses. Artists decorated them with chocolate, sugar, and fondant.
- Disney’s BoardWalk Resort – This delightful gingerbread display re-creates the resort’s BoardWalk. It features iconic locales like BoardWalk Bakery, Flying Fish, and Trattoria al Forno.
More Magic Across Parks and Cruise Ships
- The American Adventure – Patriotic flair meets pastry magic at Epcot. Chefs created gingerbread versions of the U.S. Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Monument. The monument is topped with golden Mickey ears!
- Amorette’s Patisserie – This sophisticated Disney Springs pastry shop dresses up its front window. It features a miniature gingerbread replica of the shop itself. The display even includes gingerbread trees!
- The Haunted Mansion – Disneyland Resort turns to Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” for its display. This spooky setup sits inside the classic attraction. A giant spider with glowing eyes hangs over the Grand Hall Table. It attempts to pry the edible gingerbread mansion from its foundation. Meanwhile, gingerbread zombies watch in amazement.
- Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa – Disney artists, engineers, and bakers teamed up on this display. The grandly Californian gingerbread house adds to the festive lobby. Workers used over 600 pounds of gingerbread and added Hidden Mickeys. It remains on display all season long.
- Disney Cruise Line – The chef competition is on aboard the four Disney Cruise Line ships! Bakery teams face the challenge to create individual gingerbread houses. These sit in the atrium lobby of each ship all season. The displays take weeks to conceptualize and construct. Each features over 600 pounds of dough, 200 pounds of sugar, and 5,000 gingerbread bricks.
- Aulani – A Disney Resort & Spa – This Hawaii resort gets festive with “A Kakamora Holiday.” The unique display includes a chocolate tree and a Moana-inspired gingerbread hut. It also features a chocolate sleigh and merrymaking Kakamoras with a tropical twist.
