Disney announced the official summer premiere dates for its upcoming musical film, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland. The highly anticipated movie will debut on Disney Channel on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Fans can also stream the movie the very next day when it lands on Disney+ on Friday, July 17, 2026.
Awkwafina Joins the Cast of Wicked Wonderland
A brand-new teaser trailer highlighted a major casting addition for the expanding franchise. Acclaimed actress and comedian Awkwafina has officially joined the project. She will voice Chessy the Cat, a new character tied directly to the movie’s Wonderland storyline.
The direct sequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red explores the unexpected consequences of time travel. Although Red and Chloe successfully changed the past to make the Queen of Hearts nice, their meddling birthed a new villain. Maddox Hatter, the son of the Mad Hatter, emerges to capture the Queen of Hearts. This dynamic forces Red and Chloe to venture deeper into Wonderland to save her. Take a look at the trailer below:
New Generation of Fairy Tale Characters Revealed
The rescue mission introduces a fresh wave of Auradon and Villain Kids. Red and Chloe must team up with Red’s new timeline sister, Pink. Their journey includes Luis Madrigal, the son of Luisa from Disney’s Encanto. They also find assistance from Captain Hook’s daughter, Hazel, and Maddox’s own son, Max.
The multi-platform release will feature a full commercial rollout this summer. The digital soundtrack will debut alongside the streaming premiere on July 17. Brand-new consumer products will also hit stores, including an official Mattel doll line, clothing, and Halloween costumes.
