Disneyland has officially overhauled its morning entry procedure at Disney California Adventure starting today, April 13. The park has moved away from its traditional single-rope system to manage heavy morning crowds. Guests are now directed into four distinct “Holding Zones” upon entering the park. This change aims to improve safety and flow during the busy spring break season. It marks a significant shift in how visitors plan their first hour at the resort.

The Impact Of Ending Early Entry

This operational shift is a direct response to recent changes in guest perks. Disney officially ended the 30-minute Early Entry for hotel guests on January 5, 2026. Previously, this perk allowed on-site guests to clear out before the general public arrived. Now, 100% of the morning crowd hits the ropes at the exact same time. This created a massive bottleneck near the entrance to Avengers Campus. Disney’s new system seeks to prevent this dangerous “crush” of people.

Breaking Down The Four New Holding Zones

The new system forces guests to choose their destination immediately after scanning their tickets. The first zone serves Hollywood Land and the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. A second zone is dedicated solely to Avengers Campus for guests heading to WEB SLINGERS. The third and most popular zone feeds directly into Cars Land for Radiator Springs Racers. Finally, a fourth zone manages traffic for Pixar Pier and the Incredicoaster.

The New “Commitment” Rule For Guests

The biggest change for visitors is the lack of flexibility in the morning. Guests must now commit to a specific land’s holding zone right away. Once you enter a zone, it is very difficult to switch to another one. If you change your mind, you will likely end up at the back of a different pack. This makes your initial choice more critical than ever before. Field reports indicate that the Cars Land zone is reaching capacity before the park even opens.

Survival Tips For The New Rope Drop

Frequent guests should adjust their arrival strategy to account for these changes. Experts now recommend arriving at the security checkpoints at least 75 to 90 minutes before park opening. This ensures you are at the front of your chosen holding zone. You should also study the park map to know exactly which zone serves your priority ride. Making a mistake in the morning could cost you over an hour of wait time later in the day.
