Federal authorities have charged a 22-year-old Anaheim man for making violent threats during a high-profile visit to Disneyland. Marco Antonio Aguayo faces one federal count of threatening a successor to the Presidency. The charges relate to an incident on July 12, 2025. This occurred while Vice President JD Vance visited the resort with his family.

Aguayo allegedly posted several disturbing comments on the official Disney Instagram page. These messages claimed that pipe bombs were hidden throughout the park. One specific post warned of impending bloodshed. The suspect told investigators that he intended to “bathe in the blood of corrupt politicians.” These threats triggered an immediate federal response.

The “Joke” That Led to Federal Agents

Federal agents tracked the Instagram account to Aguayo using digital records from Meta and Google. When the Secret Service questioned him, he initially claimed someone had hacked his account. However, he eventually admitted to writing the posts himself. Aguayo told agents the threats were simply a “joke” meant to get attention.

This “joke” caused significant disruption at the Happiest Place on Earth. Security teams deployed K9 units to sweep the Grand Californian Hotel and various park areas. Guests experienced several ride closures, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, while officials ensured the park was safe. Although no explosives were found, the threats created a tense atmosphere for thousands of families.

Serious Consequences for Online Threats

Law enforcement officials are treating the case with extreme seriousness. Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated that these actions serve as a horrific reminder of the dangers public officials face. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli warned that anonymous online threats will always face a thorough investigation.

Aguayo could face a maximum of five years in federal prison if a jury finds him guilty. This case highlights the zero-tolerance policy for threats against public figures and theme park guests. Disney continues to work closely with federal authorities to maintain a safe environment for all visitors.
