Disney Celebrates America

A historic cross-platform media blitz is officially coming to your living room. The Walt Disney Company has unveiled full details for its “Disney Celebrates America” initiative honoring the United States’ Semiquincentennial. This company-wide project combines live storytelling, nationwide spectacles, and a massive 24-hour broadcast. The television and media events kick off in late June. The celebration then expands into a rolling itinerary of theme park expansions and localized events through the holiday weekend.

Unprecedented 24-Hour Broadcast Takes Center Stage

The crown jewel of the entertainment announcement is a massive continuous media broadcast. Running from the evening of Friday, July 3 through Saturday, July 4, 2026, the cross-platform event will air across nine separate Disney networks. These channels include ABC, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, National Geographic, FX, Freeform, ABC News Live, and ABC owned stations. Led by World News Tonight anchor David Muir, the live production features a heavy rotation of top network talent. Viewers will see Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan, Juju Chang, Byron Pitts, Deborah Roberts, and Linsey Davis.

The live broadcast is designed to take viewers on a journey across all 50 states via several distinct themed segments:

  • Dawn of America: Tracking the country’s history from colonial eras directly through the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
  • America Expands Westward: Cross-country reporting that features a dedicated live segment directly from the Disney Wonder cruise ship docked in Ketchikan, Alaska.
  • Innovation and Invention: A deep dive exploring the space race, American fashion history, and the birth of Hollywood cinema.
  • Wonders of America: A collaborative segment between anchors and National Geographic Explorers to reveal six of the “Seven Natural Wonders of America” live on air.
  • Exclusive Monument Access: A specialized countdown segment offering rare broadcast camera access inside the Statue of Liberty. This portion is produced alongside the French Consulate.
  • ESPN SportsCenter Block: A live, two-hour SportsCenter block airs on July 4 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. ET. Hosts Kevin Negandhi and Christine Williamson will celebrate iconic stories in American sports culture.

The television block also features a separate primetime kickoff event on Monday, June 29, 2026. Titled “Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness,” the two-hour special has two hosts. Deborah Roberts will broadcast live at Walt Disney World, while Will Reeve anchors from Disneyland Resort.

Nationwide Music Spectacles and Muppets Swag

The celebration expands far beyond typical television studio sets to include major community events across the country. Disney is hosting Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash in downtown Tennessee. This gathering is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of live guests. The concert features multi-genre musical acts. It caps off with one of the largest fireworks and drone spectacles in United States history. The display will be choreographed to a live score by the Nashville Symphony.

For collectors, retail stores and shopDisney will debut an exclusive patriotic merchandise collection. This line centers entirely around Sam Eagle, the fiercely patriotic character from The Muppets. Disney is also anchoring the celebration with a major charitable contribution. The company is committing a $2.5 million donation to Blue Star Families to directly support active military members, veterans, and military communities.

Coast-to-Coast Fourth of July Park Festivities

Both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort are rolling out exclusive holiday entertainment packages for the multi-day celebration. Over at Walt Disney World, EPCOT will debut specialized patriotic lighting packages on Spaceship Earth. The Voices of Liberty will perform custom sets. Meanwhile, the Dapper Dans and Main Street Philharmonic debut festive red, white, and blue attire. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT will also run flag retreat ceremonies and custom holiday iterations of the Electrical Water Pageant. Furthermore, the Portraits of Courage military veteran exhibit will get an extended run through the holiday weekend.

At Disneyland Resort in California, Main Street, U.S.A. will host a celebratory patriotic cavalcade alongside holiday military band performances. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will debut brand-new, highly detailed red, white, and blue ensembles for guest meet-and-greets. Over at Disney California Adventure, a custom pre-show fireworks tribute will play ahead of World of Color. Finally, Disneyland Park brings back its classic Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky fireworks spectacular.

Soarin’ Across America Leads Park Additions

The biggest news for theme park fans is the official debut of a brand-new, permanent attraction experience. Launching on July 2, 2026, Soarin’ Across America will premiere at both EPCOT in Florida and Disney California Adventure in California. This marks the first entirely new iteration of the beloved Soarin’ attraction in a decade. Created by Walt Disney Imagineering, the ride features an all-new arrangement of the iconic score by composer Bruce Broughton. The breathtaking flight will take guests high above the nation’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders, national parks, and expansive landscapes.
