Disneyland Resort is officially removing its 11:00 AM park-hopping restriction later in 2026. Disneyland Resort President Thomas Mazloum announced this major policy shift during a recent media briefing. Once the change goes into effect, guests with a Park Hopper ticket or Magic Key pass can switch between parks at any time. This move signals a return to the flexibility guests enjoyed before the 2020 park closures.
Restoring Spontaneous Magic
The new policy removes a significant barrier for guests who want more control over their vacation. Guests must still make a reservation for their first park and scan into that location first. However, they will no longer have to watch the clock to move across the esplanade. Disney officials stated that this change restores the “spontaneous magic” of the California resort. While the resort has not set an exact start date, officials confirmed the update arrives later this year.
A Strategic Focus on Families
This policy shift anchors a broader effort to prioritize young families during a period of significant growth. Alongside the park-hopping news, Disney also delayed the permanent closure of Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! until 2027. The attraction was originally scheduled to close early this year for the new Avatar expansion. Disney now plans to keep the ride open longer to ensure families with small children have plenty of options during the transition.
Value and Entertainment for Summer 2026
The removal of the hopping restriction aligns with several other “family-first” initiatives launching this summer. Disney recently announced a special ticket offer where child tickets (ages 3–9) cost as low as $50 per day starting May 22. Additionally, the new theater experience, Bluey’s Best Day Ever!, debuts at the Fantasyland Theatre on March 22. Restoring all-day hopping adds significant value to these offerings by letting families move fluidly between shows and attractions.
