Indiana Jones Stunt Show

What was supposed to be “movie magic” turned into a real-life rescue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week. During the 4:30 p.m. performance of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, a major stunt malfunction occurred. The iconic rolling boulder—a 400-pound sphere of rubber and fiberglass—became dislodged from its track during the show’s climax.

A Heroic Intervention

As the massive prop veered toward the front row of the audience, a Cast Member identified as Robert took immediate action. Recognizing that the boulder was heading for the guest seating area, he heroically placed himself in its path. Robert used his body to deflect the momentum of the prop, successfully preventing it from reaching the crowd.

The impact of the 400-pound boulder knocked Robert forcefully to the ground. Concerned witnesses reported that he appeared to hit his head and was bleeding as other staff members rushed to his side. Staff briefly halted the show for ten minutes while medical teams attended to the injured hero and secured the stage. Take a look at the video below:

Medical Update and Safety

Reports indicate that Robert underwent a medical evaluation and received six stitches for a head wound. Fortunately, doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Disney released a statement confirming the employee received immediate care and emphasized that the incident injured no guests.

Technical analysis suggests a mechanical failure of the pedestal caused the malfunction. The pedestal failed to retract fully, causing the boulder to “kick” off its designated path and bounce toward the audience. The quick thinking of the staff prevented a technical failure from becoming a tragedy.
