A fire broke out at EPCOT this afternoon, Saturday, December 6, 2025, near the France Pavilion. The situation escalated rapidly but was brought under control just as quickly. Quick-acting Cast Members immediately intervened and successfully contained the flames. Crucially, no guests or staff members were injured during the event.
Quick Response Averts Disaster
The fire originated on the roof of a display crate located near the Les Vins des Chefs de France kiosk. Staff members observed the flames and responded without hesitation. They used a readily available fire extinguisher to combat the fire. The swift action of the Cast Members extinguished the fire before the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Fire Department needed to fully engage.
The immediate containment of the fire, however, prevented a major catastrophe. The quick response team successfully limited the damage to the display crate itself. The incident caused no property damage to the pavilion’s main structures. Attractions and dining locations remained open. There were no widespread park evacuations. Take a look below at the quick response:
Cause Remains Under Investigation
The official cause of the incident is still pending review by the Fire Department. Authorities investigate the matter thoroughly. However, guests who captured video of the event quickly began to speculate on the cause. Unofficial reports suggest a discarded cigarette is the suspected culprit. Walt Disney World prohibits smoking inside all of its theme parks.
This marks the second fire incident reported near the France Pavilion area this year. The earlier incident, reported in March, also resulted in no injuries but involved a large plume of visible smoke. Thankfully, the preparedness of the Cast Members ensured a safe outcome for guests today. Their decisive action maintained a magical day for everyone at the World Showcase.
