McDonald’s is spreading a little holiday chaos this year with the release of The Grinch Meal. This limited-time holiday offering immediately positions itself as the highly anticipated Adult Happy Meal equivalent. It continues McDonald’s successful trend of releasing nostalgic collectibles and special meals for grown-up fans who grew up wanting the toy. The meal arrived just in time for the holidays, launching nationwide on Tuesday, December 2nd.
What Exactly Is Included in the Grinch Meal?
The Grinch Meal is structured around satisfying an adult appetite. Customers get their choice of a full-sized Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets entrée. The meal is completed with a medium drink and is packaged in festive, collectible Grinch-themed boxes. This nostalgic presentation immediately gives the meal its “Adult Happy Meal” feel.
The major attraction, however, is the collectible prize. Instead of a traditional toy, the meal includes one pair of exclusive, limited-edition Grinch-themed socks. These holiday socks come in four fun, mischevious designs featuring the Grinch, his dog Max, and even a scrawled message on the sole.
The Deliciously Mischievous Dill Pickle Fries
The meal also introduces a brand-new food item to the U.S. menu: the Dill Pickle “Grinch Salt” McShaker Fries. This is a delightfully mischievous twist on the World Famous Fries. Customers receive a separate packet of tangy, dill pickle-flavored seasoning—the “Grinch Salt”—and a special bag. They then pour the seasoning in and shake it up themselves. This marks the first time McShaker Fries, a concept wildly popular in international markets, has been available in the United States.
Is There a Grinch Meal for the Kids, Too?
The Grinch Meal is primarily marketed to adults, but its success often raises questions about options for younger fans. While the U.S. promotion focuses on the larger, adult-sized meal, the Grinch’s holiday presence is global. Several international markets, including Canada and Australia, did feature a smaller, traditional Grinch Happy Meal for children complete with conventional toys instead of socks.
