Universal Destinations & Experiences is building a new theme park. The park, called Universal Kids Resort, will open in Frisco, Texas, in 2026. This announcement is a major expansion for the company. The entire resort is designed specifically for families with young children. The complex features a 300-room hotel and seven highly immersive themed lands.
Seven Lands of Brand-New Attractions
Universal grouped its most recognizable brands into the design. SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom features fun, water-based play areas. Guests can ride the “Jellyfish Fields Jamboree.” Dining is available at the “Goofy Goober’s” restaurant. The Jurassic World Adventure Camp offers the area’s biggest thrill: the “Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster.”
Other DreamWorks brands also make major appearances. Shrek’s Swamp features the detailed ride, “Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After.” Guests can also explore the “Swamp Splash” area and eat the famous “Shrekzel.” TrollsFest highlights the musical fun and the special “Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow” troll makeover experience. The Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club is a massive water battle zone for families. Take a peak below at the themed lands you and your kids can look forward to:

A Resort Built Through a Child’s Eyes
Universal designed the entire park through a child’s perspective. The plan includes unique features to help young guests. These include sensory gardens for quiet breaks and easy access to play areas. The Puss in Boots Del Mar land offers unique entertainment. Here, guests can enjoy “Swings Over Del Mar” and a special “Mama Luna’s Puppet Show.”
The onsite hotel is part of the integrated experience. The 300-room hotel features family-friendly room designs. These include specialized rooms with bunk beds for kids. The resort’s entryway is the Isle of Curiosity. This hub features characters like Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse. This resort represents a major expansion and a new strategic direction for Universal.
