The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) recently concluded its investigation into the passing of a man in his 60s at Walt Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Authorities have officially ruled the death non-suspicious, easing concerns and clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident occurred at the sprawling, naturalistic campground known for its rustic environment and size. First responders transported the man to a local hospital after he suffered a medical episode at the resort. Tragically, medical staff pronounced him deceased shortly thereafter. OCSO officials confirmed their initial sweep of the scene revealed no signs of trauma, injury, or drug use, leading them to quickly rule out foul play and close the criminal portion of the case.

Medical Examiner Continues Investigation

Although the OCSO classified the death as non-criminal, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office must still confirm the official cause. The ME’s preliminary report noted the man had significant pre-existing health issues, including hypertension and end-stage liver disease. The office will complete toxicology and full lab reports before finalizing the cause and manner of death, a process that can often take several weeks.

Unrelated Resort Incidents

This marks the second passing at a Walt Disney World property within a short timeframe. Last week, authorities determined a guest death at the Contemporary Resort was a suicide. Authorities strongly emphasize that the two events are entirely unrelated. Both incidents remain localized, ensuring that the general public safety at the massive Orlando resort complex is not broadly affected.

Walt Disney World has not released an official public statement regarding the passing of the guest at Fort Wilderness. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and loved ones during this difficult time as they move forward.
