Authorities reported a death at Disney’s Contemporary Resort late Tuesday night, October 14, 2025. An investigation is currently underway. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deployed numerous units to the scene at the deluxe resort near the Magic Kingdom park.
The incident occurred late this evening. It immediately prompted a large-scale emergency response and the closure of a major Walt Disney World transportation artery. The monorail service runs directly through the Contemporary Resort’s iconic A-frame tower. Following the arrival of law enforcement and medical teams, officials shut the entire line down.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) classified the fatality as an apparent suicide. This serious incident required a large-scale emergency response from law enforcement and first responders at one of Walt Disney World’s flagship hotels. According to OCSO call data, the agency received the initial report about the deceased person around 6:40 p.m. A resort guest posted a video to X (formerly Twitter). It confirmed the emergency’s scale, showing heavy police presence and a tent set up at the scene, as you can see below:

Cause of Death Confirmed
Deputies quickly secured the area along North World Drive, which runs past the Contemporary Resort. There, they located an unresponsive person. Officials pronounced the person deceased at the scene. On Wednesday afternoon, the Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death was a suicide resulting from multiple blunt impact injuries. Officials directed guests to use alternative transportation, which caused travel delays.
OCSO Debunks Monorail Rumors
Social media users, including those on Reddit, quickly discussed the incident. They claimed the death significantly impacted resort guests. Unverified witness accounts initially suggested the death involved a fall onto the Monorail tracks. Other rumors claimed the Monorail was directly involved. The OCSO, however, explicitly clarified that the Monorail did not strike the individual. They called that circulating information “erroneous.” Our thoughts go out to all those impacted by this ongoing and sensitive event.
