Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin officially joins the cast of Disney’s next major animated sequel. The conservationist is the son of the late, legendary Steve Irwin. Disney announced that Robert Irwin Joins Zootopia 2 Cast to voice an adorable Australian koala named Robert Furwin. Irwin revealed the news during a pre-performance package on “Dancing With the Stars” Disney Night. He marks his debut in a major Disney feature film.
A Natural Fit for the Voice Booth
The perfect casting aligns with Irwin’s passion for animals and his Australian background. The new character, Robert Furwin, is a koala, one of Australia’s most iconic marsupials. This casting adds a charming touch to the sequel. The character’s name playfully nods to the young wildlife warrior himself. Irwin shared his excitement about lending his voice to a Disney animal character.
While this is his biggest Hollywood voice role yet, he is no stranger to the microphone. Irwin previously voiced Alfie, a dingo, on the popular Australian animated series Bluey. His prior experience voicing an Australian native animal suggests he will bring great authenticity to the role.
