An era has officially ended at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The classic attraction Muppet*Vision 3D had its final public performance on June 8, 2025, to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. While many fans are sad to see the show go, there is good news for the beloved characters. Muppet Vision 3D’s Next Act is shaping up to be an exciting chapter in the Muppets’ long history.
The End of an Era
Muppet*Vision 3D blended 3D film, in-theater effects, and live animatronics, making it a fan favorite. The attraction was one of Jim Henson’s final projects. It holds a special place in the hearts of Disney and Muppets fans alike. The show’s closure, along with the nearby PizzeRizzo restaurant, will make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed area. The new land will feature Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster, putting guests right in the middle of the monster action.
A New Chapter Begins
While the Muppet Courtyard is gone, the Muppets aren’t leaving Hollywood Studios entirely. In an exciting new chapter, they will be moving just down the street to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The popular high-speed ride, once starring Aerosmith, will feature The Electric Mayhem, the Muppets’ famous house band. This is a monumental move, as it marks the first time a Disney ride has ever been themed to the Muppets.
Preserving the Legacy
Disney and The Jim Henson Company have a confirmed plan to bring the attraction to a new platform. VR cameras documented the original film. A version of the show will be released for platforms like the Apple Vision Pro. Fans can then experience the magic from home.
What to Expect Next
Fans can rest assured that the Muppets’ legacy is secure. The move to a new ride and the show’s new digital life demonstrates Disney’s commitment to keeping the characters alive for future generations. We may never again see Sam Eagle, Statler, and Waldorf in their original 3D theater. The Muppets’ unique brand of chaos and comedy, however, will continue to entertain us in new and unexpected ways.
