A new live-action series called Vampirina: Teenage Vampire is coming to Disney Channel and Disney+. The show is a musical comedy inspired by the popular animated series Vampirina, helmed by Dan Cross and David Hoge, creators of the Disney XD hit Pair of Kings.

Plot and Characters

It follows a tween vampire named “Vee” who leaves Transylvania to attend a performing arts boarding school for humans. She must keep her identity a secret while she pursues her musical dreams. Her overprotective father makes things complicated when he sends an overzealous ghost to live with her at the school.

The main cast includes Kenzi Richardson as Vampirina “Vee” Hauntley. Jiwon Lee plays Sophie, Vee’s roommate. Shaun Dixon stars as Elijah, and Milo Maharlika portrays the 600-year-old ghost, Demi. Take a closer look at the trailer below:

The series also features a talented recurring cast. Kate Reinders and Jeff Meacham play Vee’s loving vampire parents. Kim Coles joins them as Dean Merriweather of Wilson Hall Academy of the Arts. The show includes special guest stars as well. Emmy Award winner Mykal-Michelle Harris appears as the delightful Ruby. Jenna Davis plays the upperclassman Megan, and viral sensation Ariel Martin portrays pop star Millie Eyelash.

Production and Release

The creative team behind the show has a strong history with Disney. Dan Cross and David Hoge, the team behind Julie and the Phantoms, serve as showrunners and executive producers. Tim Federle, creator of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, is also an executive producer. Bronwyn North-Reist and Meg DeLoatch also executive produce the series.

The new series will premiere on Disney Channel on September 12, 2025. It will debut with a two-episode premiere at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. EDT/PDT. All 16 episodes will then arrive on Disney+ on October 15, 2025. This dual release strategy ensures fans can watch the series on cable or on the streaming platform.

The new show represents a significant new venture for Disney Channel. It brings the classic character into a modern, musical setting. This next chapter for the franchise is sure to excite fans and new audiences alike.
