Disneu Villains Anime

Disney is about to debut its first-ever anime series centered on iconic villains. Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on October 29. The show adapts the popular Japanese mobile game of the same name. It reimagines classic Disney villains as handsome students at a magical academy. The show is Disney’s first villains anime and will drop worldwide, with new episodes releasing weekly.

The Story and Characters

The game’s creator is Yana Toboso, the artist behind the manga Black Butler. She developed the original concept and character designs. The story takes place at Night Raven College, a prestigious school for mages. The college has seven dormitories. Each dorm is inspired by one of the Great Seven, a group of legendary Disney villains. The dorms are based on the Queen of Hearts, the King of Beasts from The Lion King, the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid, the Sorcerer of the Sands from Aladdin, the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the King of the Underworld from Hercules, and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

The anime’s plot follows a high school student from Tokyo. This student gets mysteriously transported to this world of magic. The protagonist has no magical abilities. They must navigate the rivalries and challenges of the school while searching for a way home. The first season is titled “Episode of Heartslabyul.” It will focus on the dorm inspired by the Queen of Hearts. Take a look at the trailer below:

An International Sensation

The game has already found enormous success in Japan. It has amassed over 4.8 million downloads. The game has inspired both manga and novel adaptations. The new series represents a major international push for the franchise. The animation is a collaboration between Yumeta Company and Graphinica. Disney has also already greenlit three seasons of the show, proving its commitment.

The series will consist of eight episodes in its first season. Fans are very excited for the anime’s release. The series will expand on the game’s rich lore and introduce its unique take on the villains to a global streaming audience. This project marks a significant step for Disney’s growing commitment to Japanese animation.
